ABOUT BANGALORE ZOMI MEMBERSHIP & EMERGENCY FUND :
To meet the financial needs in the events of death of its member(s), the Zomi Christian Fellowship, Bangalore (ZCF-B), decided to create a contingency fund. Pursuing this idea the Fellowship finally established an Emergergency Fund (the fund) founded in a By-law, in which was approved by the ZCF-B committed held on 11th October 1998. Provisions of the By-Laws of the fund (Amended up to date) are as follows.
1. AIM OF THE FUND : The aim of the Zomi Membership and Emergency Fund, Bangalore is to meet partly or fully the financial needs of its member(s) in the event of death.
2. MEMBERSHIP : Any Zomi (regardless of faith) living in Bangalore City and its surrounding areas who pay annual subscription to the fund is a member. In the events of death of a member, the fund shall be released to the extent of maximum amount of grant fixed by the Committee, ZCF-B from time to time. Payment shall be released after obtaining written/oral confirmation of death by any two of these– (1) President/Chairman (2). Secretary (3). Treasurer (4). Finance Secretary of ZCF-B. Membership to the fund is linked to residential status and therefore, cases as a member leaves Bangalore and/or its surrounding areas for more than three months at a stretch, readmission by payment of prescription is at the sole discretion of the Committee of ZCF-B.
3. MANAGEMENT OF THE FUND : The Committee of ZCF-B shall be responsible to manage the fund in the spirit of stewardship and shall be accountable for the fund. The Committee of ZCF-B shall prescribe membership fees, terms and payment of claims and all such details regarding management of the fund from time to time and its decision shall be final.
4. AMOUNT AVAILABLE IN CASE OF DEATH : The Committee shall fix from time to time the amount of money that can be claimed on account of death. At present Rs. 1,000.oo (Rupees one thousand) only for those who subscribe to the Membership Fee and Rs. 15,000.00 (Rupees fifteen thousand) only for those who subscribe to the Emergency Fund and or with Membership Fee plus common Zomi traditional shawl (Common Zomi puandum).
5. ACCOUNTING OF THE FUND : The fund shall be held in a bank account under the joint signature of the Treasurer, the finance Secretary, the Secretary and the President/Chairman of the Committee (any of the two of these) from time to time. All books of Account shall be maintained in a proper and appropriate manner so as to facilitate annual AUDIT by and auditor or be appointed by the committed from time to time.
6. JURISDICTION : Any dispute of grievance about the fund shall rest within the jurisdiction of Karnataka State.
